The BFC Royals soccer team became the 2025 Bay of Quinte Men’s Masters (over 35) League Cup Champs, thanks to a hard fought 2-1 victory over The Belleville Old Boys at Bain Park in Quinte West this week.
BFC opened the scoring late in the first half with a chip over the keeper’s head by Josh Lavigne, to put them up 1-0 at the half.
A second-half penalty miss by Lavigne was followed by frantic play, as The Old Boys pressed for the equalizer.
Alex Serpa, was pressing forward for The Old Boys and was eventually awarded a PK, and Serpa confidently made it 1-1.
But it was directly after the ensuing kickoff that the BFC Royals got a finish from Pat Foran crashing off the post to win a historic trophy for the Royals
The Masters Over 35 Division has been around since 2008 and this is the very first title win for BFC.
Team leader Dennis Oskamp “I’ve seen all the losses and a few wins and now finally a victory (and) I’m the only member of the original team. All of my teammates played fantastic. This is a wonderful league with over 500 members playing every season enjoying the beautiful game.”
