Hastings County will measure homelessness in the region this week as it participates in a nationally-coordinated Point-in-Time (PiT) Homeless Count.
The count will take place Thursday, October 9 targeting both sheltered and unsheltered locations with a goal of assessing the number of homeless individuals on this specific date.
It will be carried out with support from volunteers and community agencies.
The PiT Count will improve the county’s understanding of the needs and circumstances of the people who are affected by homelessness in our community.
Results from the count will be used to inform and improve Hastings County’s response to homelessness.
Officials say participating in ongoing counts supports measuring progress towards the ultimate goal: ending homelessness in Hastings County.
