Two people have been charged after Northumberland OPP recovered a stolen tractor-trailer.
On Monday around 6:20 a.m., OPP received a report of a tractor-trailer believed to have been stolen from Cornwall that was travelling west on Highway 401 from Belleville.
OPP attempted to stop the vehicle, but it failed to comply and exited the highway at County Road 25 in Cramahe Township.
The driver stopped the vehicle and two people fled on foot.
They were taken into custody shortly afterwards.
The OPP Canine Unit (K9) was dispatched to assist with a search of the vehicle.
As a result, Gurmanveer Sing, age 25, from Caledon, has been charged with:
– Theft of motor vehicle
– Theft over $5,000
– Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000 – two counts
– Mischief under $5,000
– Possession of break-in instruments
– Dangerous operation
– Flight from peace officer
– Resist peace officer
Anshdeep Kang, age 21, from Caledon, has been charged with:
– Theft of motor vehicle
– Possession break-in instruments
– Theft over $5,000
– Mischief under $5,000
– Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000 – two counts
– Resist peace officer
Both accused were held for bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.
