Quinte West City Council approved a recommendation from staff to apply for funding from the province’s Municipal Ice Storm Assistance (MISA) program.
In a report to council, the City of Quinte West estimates that $85,000 was spent on staff overtime and external contracted services during the March 2025 ice storm.
The work being done during that time included clearing fallen trees, managing flooding, snow and ice removal, water and sewer repair, and restoring safe access to roads and public infrastructure.
Under the provisions of MISA, the program would reimburse 75% of eligible expenses with the city covering the remaining 25%.
If funding is approved, the city would be eligible for a reimbursement of $63,750.
