Peterborough County OPP are investigating an act of mischief that occurred at Buckhorn Quarry in late July.
On Thursday, July 31, OPP received a call from the owner of Buckhorn Quarry located on Bass Line in Trent Lakes who advised that one of their machines had suddenly stopped working, followed almost immediately by a second similar machine.
Mechanics began working on the equipment and determined that a substance had been placed into the hydraulic system causing the machines to fail.
Upon review of their equipment, the quarry found multiple machines that had been tampered with and estimates the cost to repair them in excess of $500,000.
It is believed that the mischief occurred within the last two weeks of July 2025.
Anyone who may have information that may assist in the investigation is asked to contact OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
