Gleaners Food Bank is calling on the community to step up for their city-wide food drive on Saturday, October 4 and Sunday, October 5 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. both days.
Donations of non-perishable food and financial gifts will be accepted in a drive-through format at the food bank’s warehouse at 25 Wallbridge Crescent in Belleville.
In a release, Gleaners says that food bank usage at their facility has more than doubled since before COVID, and that Gleaners is now averaging over 1,000 food hampers each month.
They say they are also supporting twice as many employed families as they did pre-pandemic.
“Belleville is a generous city,” said Jodie Jenkins, Community Engagement Specialist for Gleaners Food Bank in the release.
“When we show up for one another, families eat, kids go to school with full lunches, and seniors don’t have to choose between heat and groceries. Your support on October 4 and 5 truly matters.”
