The Quinte West Professional Firefighters Association Local 1328 (QWPFFA) has officially kicked off the 34th annual Coats for Kids campaign.
The program collects and distributes new and gently-used children’s winter outerwear.
Community members can support the initiative by donating new or gently-used coats, snow pants, hats, and mitts in all sizes, or by making a monetary contribution.
Donations can be dropped off year-round at Quinte West Fire Station 1, located at 49 Dixon Drive in Trenton.
In 2024, the Coats for Kids program distributed more than 550 coats throughout the Quinte West community.
“Every child deserves to stay warm during the winter season. Thanks to the generosity of local service groups, businesses, unions, and individuals, this program continues to thrive. We are grateful for the ongoing support the community has shown over the years,” says QWPFFA President Jay Coxwell.
Launched in 1991, Coats for Kids has been a QWPFFA tradition for more than three decades.
In addition to community donations, firefighters raise funds each year to purchase quality outerwear for local children in need.
Families who require winter outerwear for children aged 17 and under can contact Quinte West Fire and Emergency Services at 613-392-6557 to book a pick-up appointment.
Proof of identification for the parent or guardian is required, and families are encouraged to bring their children to ensure proper sizing.
