The City of Belleville is once again seeking donations of large spruce trees to be used for lighting displays throughout the city during its annual Festival of Lights program and seasonal celebrations.
Residents or businesses with a 24 ft. (7.4 m) or higher spruce tree on their property that they would like to donate are asked to submit the information using the online Christmas Tree Donation Program form before Monday, Oct. 13 at 4:30 p.m.
After receiving your submission, city staff will inspect the tree and, if deemed suitable for the seasonal tree program, will arrange for its removal to ground level at no cost to the landowner. These trees will be installed at various public locations around the city.
Tree removal equipment will be required to access the donated trees, so trees on a side street or in the side yard are usually the most suitable for this purpose.
After the holiday season, donated trees will be chipped and used as mulch in the city’s ongoing park program.
