It was a nail-biter at the Governors’ Showcase in Niagara Falls, as the Wellington Dukes edged the Mississauga Chargers 4–3 in overtime on Wednesday afternoon.
Both teams traded goals early, with a 2–2 tie after the first period.
Trailing late in the third, Wellington responded to send the game into extra time, thanks to a goal by Ethan Murray with 31 seconds left.
Cole Ellis sealed the win for the Dukes, while goalie Colby Booth-Housego stopped 37 of 40 shots.
Zachary Mascard, Zachary Carrier, and Ethan Murray all had multi-point games.
Wellington is the last unbeaten team in the Ontario Junior Hockey League and set for travel to Markham Friday night.
They are currently in a stretch of 13 games in 27 days, having played the fewest games in the league (three).
