The Belleville Senators will have a lot of new faces coming this coming season, however, their leadership is not going anywhere.
Quinte News chatted with Captain Garrett Pilon about the summer he has had.
“Taking care of any little ailments that might have carried over. Doing a little bit of rehab, working out, skating, all that stuff. For me it was a lot of visiting with family. I’m in the prime wedding age right now, where a lot of friends are getting married, busy lots of travelling. It was good, it made the summer go by quick and hockey season’s obviously coming right around the corner here.”
Pilon is the leader and he says he takes pride in the “C” on his jersey.
“There’s a certain sense of setting an example. The league is young in itself, where there’s a lot of new guys coming in. Every hockey player is exposed to a leadership and the right way to handle themselves. Coming up from even in juniors, it’s not like guys coming in, they don’t have an idea of how to do it, but there’s a certain standard that needs to be set in the dressing room with how you are to act.”

He says there are going to be a lot of leaders for this year and accountability, work ethic, and winning come by committee.
“Even the young guys, there’s guys that obviously are ahead of themselves in their age at times. They’re composed and they bring something in the leadership aspect, even when they’re young. A lot of guys when you come here, it’s expected you do your job, care about your teammates, and be a leader in your own sense.”
