The “B” Platoon received a Chief’s Commendation for its response to a serious assault that took place in May 2025.
In a report to the Belleville Police Services Board on Thursday, members of “B” Platoon responded to a serious assault on Russell Street where they located a female victim with significant injuries upon arrival.
Officers immediately secured the scene, preserved vital evidence, and canvassed for witnesses and video.
The report says a suspect vehicle and suspect were quickly identified, and that at approximately 2 a.m. on June 1, the suspect vehicle was located, and officers conducted a high-risk stop.
During the stop, the suspect attempted to flee by ramming a police cruiser but was safely apprehended.
Police located a loaded firearm within reach of the suspect.
The suspect was charged with multiple offences, including attempted murder.
Recognized for their work were Constables Jesse McInroy, Andi Boka, Hayley Burkitt, Erik Fernandes, Chad Peters, Braeden Rogers, Jeff Smith, Chris Tijssen, Joshua Verbeek, Ben Walden, Isabelle Whittaker, and Sgt Joe Yanch.
Also recognized were Tracey McNaught for preparing reports, notes, and will-says required for warrants and interviews, S/Cst. Jasmina Dennis for providing essential operational support to the frontline, and dispatchers Lindsay Rhodes, Breanne Noden, and Krystal Johnson for demonstrating outstanding situational awareness, rapid coordination, and effective communication.
