Belleville police have installed a self-service kiosk at the downtown Belleville police office.
The kiosk provides residents with convenient access to services such as e-report filing, bicycle registration, criminal record checks, and the opportunity to share compliments about officers.
The kiosk was introduced to improve accessibility for those who may find it difficult to travel to the main police station at 459 Sidney St.
Before installing the kiosk, police consulted with Downtown Community Policing Office Ambassador Harry Burley, who had been working at that office since January. He was in full support of the idea.
“We see a lot of people coming in to report stolen bicycles or other incidents,” said Burley. “Having this kiosk downtown gives people faster access to crime reporting tools and other services, and that contributes to a safer community.”
The downtown police office is located at 211 Front Street.
