A Belleville councillor wants more detailed reports as the city opens up room for more housing in the community.
In 2021, council voted to allow a single-accessory unit on a property zoned for a single-family dwelling and since then more units have been allowed to be added in single-family zones and up to five units on properties on key corridors.
On Monday, Councillor Paul Carr asked planning staff to keep track of how many residential units are actually built in the future with a focus on how affordable they are.
Carr said housing affordability is the main problem in the province and its municipalities are trying to solve by building more housing and faster.
