Two people are facing charges after being arrested by Lennox and Addington OPP in separate driving incidents.
On Sunday just after 4:00 a.m., police were called after a vehicle went into a ditch on County Road 19 in Loyalist Township. The vehicle was located and following an investigation the driver was arrested.
Nicholas Nieuwkoop, a 23-year-old from Napanee, was charged with:
- Operation while impaired – over 80 mgs of alcohol
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus
- Dangerous Driving
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on September 30, 2025. His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and vehicle was impounded.
On Monday, just after 7:00 a.m., L&A County OPP were called by a member of the public regarding a possible impaired driver parked at a school in Bath. Police located the vehicle and after a short foot pursuit the driver was arrested.
Peter Valyear, a 43-year-old from Kingston, was charged with:
- Flight from peace officer
- Possession of methamphetamine
- Driving while under suspension
- Operate a motor vehicle with no insurance
- Drive motor vehicle no permit
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on October 7, 2025.
