There could be some good news for Habitat for Humanity Prince Edward Hastings after Monday’s meeting of Belleville council.
Council will consider waiving $200,000 in building permit fees to help Habitat obtain preferred financing for its planned five-storey 66-unit affordable condominium building on the former site of the Belleville police station on Dundas Street East.
A daycare centre would also be part of the project.
Meanwhile, a ceremony marking the beginning of the demolition of the old police station is to be held Tuesday morning.
