Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating an interaction that occurred in the Belleville General Hospital emergency room between police and a 35-year-old man who appeared to be agitated.
The SIU says in a release that the incident took place on August 29.
Based on preliminary information, the SIU reported that the man had been arrested, but in fact, the man was not arrested.
He was restrained and then seen at hospital.
The man has since been released from hospital.
Three investigators have been assigned to the case.
