As the new school year begins, The Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation is proud to welcome back students, families, and educators across our community. We know the start of school is an exciting time filled with promise and potential—and we’re here to ensure that every student has the support they need to succeed.
While many children head back to school with everything in place, too many still face significant barriers—such as food insecurity, emergency needs, and a lack of basic supplies—that can hinder their ability to learn and thrive.
Our mission is clear: to remove these barriers and ensure every student has a fair shot at a great school year. Whether it’s providing meals, emergency assistance, or resources to families in crisis, The Learning Foundation is committed to standing in the gap—so teachers can teach, students can learn, and no one gets left behind.
But we can’t do this alone.
We’re calling on our community to join us in this effort. Your support—whether through financial donations, in-kind contributions, or spreading the word—can make a real difference in the life of a child this school year.
Here’s how you can help:
- Donate at hpelearningfoundation.com
- Sponsor a program, such as Food for Learning, Sharing Cupboards or Student Emergency Fund
- Provide essential items such as school supplies, hygiene kits, or emergency food items
- Spread the word and help raise awareness. Follow us on social media
- Facebook @TheHPELF or @food4learning Instagram @thehpelf
- Volunteer with a student nutrition program in a school near you
Together, we can make sure that no student starts the year at a disadvantage—and that every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Let’s make this school year the best one yet—for all students.
