The agreements for the family physicians were approved at a meeting of Belleville City Council on Monday.
While healthcare and physician recruitment are not a municipal responsibility, the City of Belleville says it has recruited approximately 60 physicians and eight nurse practitioners since the start of the program.
The program is funded in part by the dividends the city receives as a shareholder of Elexicon Energy and to date, over $9 million has been committed to attracting primary healthcare providers.
