Quinte West OPP have obtained a warrant for the arrest of an individual who fled a traffic stop.
On Monday August 18, 2025 at approximately 7:45 p.m., the OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team (TIME) conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle on Highway 401 east near Wooler Road, after observing it operating at speeds in excess of 150 km/hr.
During the investigation, the driver of the vehicle fled. Officers with Quinte West OPP, Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit and Aviation Services were dispatched to assist in a search. The search ended with negative results. A search of the vehicle resulted in seizure of a quantity of suspected fentanyl, cocaine and a firearm. A warrant has been issued for the driver of the vehicle.
A second individual associated with the incident was taken into custody without incident. Officers subsequently located cannabis and currency.
Jevon Armstrong, 22 years old from Ajax, has been charged with the following offences:
· Flight from peace officer
· Resist peace officer
· Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
· Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
· Possession for the purpose of distributing
· Possession of an identity document – (two counts)
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.
