Three people have been charged after the Kingston Police Street Crime Unit launched an investigation into persons actively involved in the trafficking of fentanyl and other illicit drugs.
As a result of the investigation, the crime unit, with the assistance of the Kingston Police Drug Unit, Emergency Response Unit and Canine Unit, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant on Thursday, August 7 at a residence on Bagot Street.
Investigators located three people inside the residence, one of whom was in possession of a loaded Taurus .40 calibre semi-automatic handgun.
All three persons were taken into custody.
A subsequent search of the residence resulted in the seizure of Fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine, and Canadian currency which was seized as proceeds from drug related offences.
A 45-year-old individual from Kingston, along with two young offenders from the Greater Toronto Area have been charged with the following offences:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking ×2 (Fentanyl, Crystal methamphetamine)
- Possession of Proceeds of Crime
One of the youths has also been charged with numerous firearm related charges.
The three accused were held in custody for a bail hearing.
Police say the seizure underscores the continued distribution of fentanyl and other harmful substances into the community and highlights the risk posed by individuals targeting Kingston to profit from the addiction and suffering of others.
