More than $100,000 worth of drugs including cocaine was seized and four people were arrested during a traffic stop on Highway 401 in Quinte West Sunday morning.
Quinte West OPP conducted a traffic stop on Highway 401 between Highway 33 and Glen Miller Road around 9 a.m..
With the assistance of the OPP Community Street Crime Unit, the Quinte West OPP Crime Unit and the OPP Canine, police seized over a kilogram of suspected cocaine, an amount of suspected cannabis, and Percocet with an estimated street value of approximately $114,000.
Police also seized over $7,500 in Canadian currency.
As a result of the investigation, four people from the Ottawa area face charges
Justin Corona, 23 years old, of Nepean has been charged with:
- Obstruct peace officer
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
- Operation while impaired – drugs
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Flight from peace officer
- Possession of 30g dried cannabis in a public place
- Drive with window coated – obstructed view
- Drive motor vehicle with cannabis readily available
Lee Bautista, 24 years old and Fercival Garcia, 27 years old, of Gloucester have both been charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Obstruct peace officer
Hassan Abdullah, 32 years old, of Gloucester has been charged with the following:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
The accused remain in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.
