This week, the Belleville General Hospital Foundation (BGHF) will have door-to-door teams out across the Quinte region.
They’ll be canvassing residents to join BGHF’s Give Every Month (GEM) campaign.
With government funding not covering the cost of replacing life-saving equipment, the hospital foundation relies on community generosity to meet these urgent commitments. Monthly giving provides a steady, predictable source of support that allows the foundation to respond quickly when vital equipment needs arise.
“Quinte Health’s Belleville General Hospital provides essential regional programs — from ICU to cancer care — with 60% of patients coming from outside Belleville,” said Steven Cook, Executive Director of BGHF. “Whether you live in Belleville, Napanee, Brighton, or Picton, your monthly gift helps ensure that our doctors and nurses have the tools they need to save lives. We really are stronger together.”
Most monthly donors choose to give around $25 per month.
Donors receive a consolidated tax receipt at the end of the year.
BGHF Board Chair Wayne Sheppard notes the growing impact: “We are approaching 1,000 monthly donors, currently contributing over a quarter of a million dollars annually. In equipment terms, that could mean four to five new ventilators, numerous vital signs machines, or three new operating room tables — the very items that help save lives every day.”
For security and fraud protection, all BGHF canvassers wear a red bib and carry an electronic tablet.
