Two people are facing drug trafficking charges after a traffic stop in Bancroft.
On Sunday, just after 1:20 a.m., Bancroft OPP officers stopped a vehicle on Bridge Street East.
During the stop, officers saw suspected crack cocaine in plain view. Both occupants were arrested and a search of the vehicle led to the seizure of drugs, cash, a prohibited weapon, and items associated with drug trafficking.
As a result, 39-year-old Jody Watson of Bancroft and 42-year-old Thomas Parrell of South Algonquin Township were both charged with possession of cocaine and opioids for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime under $5000.
Parrell was additionally charged with possession of a prohibited device or ammunition, possession of an unauthorized weapon, and failure to comply with a probation order.
Both accused were held for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice.
