The final tally for 2024 housing starts in Ontario is far
behind what’s needed to get the province to its housing target.
The Ontario government recently updated its housing tracker
for the first time in eight months and it shows about
94,700 starts, far below last year’s goal of 125,000 new residential units.

Meanwhile Belleville is very close to meeting its 2024 target with 250 housing starts. The goal is 258.
The provincial government grants funding to municipalities that meet at least 80 per cent of their annual targets.
