Three of Belleville’s most popular parks will become a little safer next year.
On Monday, city council voted for a two-year pilot project whereby defibrillators would be installed outdoors in West Zwick’s, Mary Anne Sills, and Clifford “Sonny” Belch parks.
Councillor Barb Enright-Miller says defibrillators have long been proven to save the lives of people suffering cardiac arrest.
“And we all know that parks can be considered high risk due to active recreation, congregation of seniors and families out enjoying the grand kids. This is a sound, sound, test project.”
The cost will only be $41,000. The city currently has 36 defibrillators available indoors at various locations.
