Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for the Quinte region calling for a multi-day heat event expected to begin on Saturday.
The weather agency says that there will be daytime highs of 30 to 33 degrees Celsius, with humidex values of 35 to 40.
It is also expecting overnight lows of 19 to 23 degrees Celsius.
Slightly cooler temperatures are expected by the middle of next week.
Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
In anticipation of the heat, Prince Edward County has issued a burn ban.
➡️Prince Edward County Fire & Rescue (PECFR) is restricting all burning in the municipality.
➡️Effective immediately, there is a complete burn ban in effect.
➡️The burn ban restricts all fires including campfires, burn barrels, chimeneas, brush piles and yard waste.
