Lennox and Addington OPP say a 71-year-old woman reported missing earlier this week in the Napanee area has been located.
The woman was reported missing from her Westplain Road home on Monday and there were concerns for her safety and wellbeing.
Police immediately began a search and were quickly joined by members of the OPP Emergency Response Team and three OPP Canine Units.
A helicopter from OPP Aviation Services also arrived to assist, along with members on ATVs.
Trained members of the Ontario Search and Rescue Volunteer Association (OSARVA), Rideau Search and Rescue and Ottawa Volunteer Search and Rescue joined OPP in the intensive ground search.
Search efforts continued all week and shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday, the woman was located alive and well in the forest.
She was found by members of the Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit and trained OSARVA volunteers.
She was taken to be checked out by the L&A County Paramedics.
L&A OPP Commander, Inspector Dave Tovell says, “I want to thank everyone who played a role in the successful location of this missing person. This was an amazing example of teamwork, involving not only OPP members, but those from other agencies, as well as the dedicated volunteers who undergo special training to take part in incidents like this, and members of the public who called in potential tips.”
