On Friday, August 1,members of the Durham Regional Police Service Homicide Unit arrested an individual who was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant in relation to the death of a 69-year-old female.
On the afteroon of June 11, members of West Division responded to the area of Primrose Court and Fairport Road for a house fire.
A 69-year-old female was located deceased inside the residence.
At the conclusion of the post-mortem examination, the DRPS Homicide Unit took over the investigation.
This is Durham’s third homicide of 2025.
Elston Coutinho, age 34, is charged with second-degree murder.
He was held for bail hearing.
