Ethnic communities are growing throughout the country and locally.
At Monday’s Quinte West Detachment board meeting members wondered if police were making an effort to reach out to the newer groups in the city.
OPP Sergeant John Vis says all officers are reminded to get out into the community and talk to people, and that includes new Canadians.

“Our officers deal with people of diverse backgrounds on a daily basis. We have officers that work in our detachment that are from other parts
of the world. They bring a diverse background to the community and to the detachment. And that’s really assisted with the growth of diversity here at the Quinte West detachment.”
Mayor of Quinte West Jim Harrison commended officers for their attendance at every special event held in the community.
