There has been another drowning in Prince Edward County, this time involving a young child.
OPP say a child went missing while playing with family members in a shallow area of water at Sandbanks Provincial Park late Thursday afternoon.
The child was located and recovered by bystanders prior to the arrival of emergency services and subsequently transported to hospital by paramedics.
Despite resuscitation efforts, the child was pronounced deceased.
The identity of the victim is not being released out of respect for the family’s privacy.
Prince Edward County Fire and Rescue, Hastings-Quinte EMS, and Sandbanks Provincial Park Wardens supported the Prince Edward County OPP in response to the incident.
OPP thank members of the public who provided assistance.
The investigation remains ongoing.

This is the third drowning in Prince Edward County in less than a week after two people died in separate incidents in East Lake last weekend.
