Ontario has announced that construction is underway into a new 256-bed long-term care home in Brighton.
A ground-breaking ceremony took place at the site of the future retirement home on Friday.
In a press release, the province says the Presqu’ile Place project is a recipient of the Construction Funding Subsidy top-up.
The new home will feature eight resident home areas (RHAs), which the province says is designed to create a “more intimate and familiar living space for residents.”
Each RHA will feature dining and activity areas, lounges and bedrooms with balconies.
Amenities include outdoor gardens and seating, a place of worship, multipurpose rooms, a bistro, and a hair salon and barber shop.
Presqu’ile Place is expected to welcome its first residents in 2027.
The following are quotes provided by the province:
“Today is an exciting milestone for the community of Brighton and the many families who call this area home. Presqu’ile Place represents more than just a building—it’s a commitment to making sure our seniors have the support and surroundings they deserve, close to the people and places they care about.”
