Northumberland OPP have handed down a long list of charges, after what started as a routine traffic stop.
On Tuesday, officers on County Road 25 in Trent Hills saw a vehicle driving at 106 km/h in an 80 zone, and stopped the driver.
The driver gave the police fake identity information and was taken into custody. A search of the vehicle found 30 rounds of rifle ammunition.
Patrick Jensen, a 37-year-old with no fixed address, was charged with:
- Operation while prohibited
- Public mischief
- Personation with intent to avoid arrest, prosecution or obstruct justice (identity fraud)
- Transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner
- Possession of prohibited device or ammunition
- Suspended driving – four counts
- Fail to apply for permit on becoming owner
- Operate motor vehicle without insurance
- Use of plates not authorized
- Speeding
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in August, while the vehicle was impounded for 45 days and the ammunition was seized.
