The historic Belleville Intelligencer building in the downtown is once again up for sale.
Quinte News has learned that a proposed developer, who was interested in renovating and retrofitting the site, backed out.
The new asking price for 45 Bridge Street East is $2.69 million.
Property Highlights: Existing three-storey, 24,000 sq. ft. building fully stripped back to original steel and concrete structure Zoned C2-4 allowing for commercial and residential uses up to six storeys
In January of 2023, the building owner told Quinte News there were plans for a joint venture with a big builder to construct 25 condo units, but would not comment further.
Realtor Eugene Sturino tells Quinte News the owners of the building would love to see the new owners take over the historic building and renovate it to become a charm of the downtown.
The municipality has granted leniency to the owners, while the proposed developers were discussing plans for the site.
An unnamed source tells Quinte News that the city is going through a court order for the property to either be repaired or demolished by owners.
