As part of the Cobourg Police Service’s ongoing commitment to enhancing community safety, they are sharing the two-week update on the Safer Streets Cobourg program. • 45 foot patrols and 98 property checks.
Officers responded to
• 30 trespass-related calls and made 16 warrants and bail compliance arrests.
In addition, there were
• Two drug-related occurrences
• Nine Liquor License Control Act charges issued.
Members of the Auxiliary Unit continue high-visibility patrols, visiting downtown businesses to raise awareness about the Trespass Authority Agent Program and the Community Camera Registry Program. Since the launch of Safer Streets Cobourg, 36 businesses have registered for the Trespass Agent Program, and efforts to provide information will continue.
Trespass Authority Agent Program:
The Trespass Authority Agent Program empowers CPS officers to act on behalf of property owners to enforce
the Trespass to Property Act. This initiative allows officers to direct individuals to leave private properties and, if
necessary, remove them when the property owner is not present. The program is designed to support
commercial business owners and landlords within the Town of Cobourg in maintaining a safe and secure
environment. Visit cobourgpoliceservice.com/safer-streets-cobourg/ to learn more and to register today.
Community Camera Registry:
The Community Camera Registry is a volunteer registry of residential and business security cameras in the Town
of Cobourg that helps police quickly locate cameras that may have captured an incident nearby. Register your
cameras today by visiting cobourgpoliceservice.com and click the camera registry icon.
