The City of Belleville has announced Kyle Christopher as the city’s new Deputy Fire Chief.
Christopher officially begins his role of Deputy Chief today where he will oversee fire prevention, training, fleet maintenance, strategic projects and emergency management, alongside co-Deputy Chief Mark Shannon.
He takes over the role left vacant after the passing of Deputy Fire Chief Jim Young.
Christopher began his career with Belleville Fire and Emergency Services in 2005 as a volunteer at Station #4 and progressed through the service, most recently leading the fire prevention division as Senior Fire Prevention Officer.
In addition to his role with Belleville Fire and Emergency Services, he also continues to serve as a volunteer with neighbouring Tyendinaga Township Fire Service.
“On behalf of Belleville Fire and Emergency Services and the City of Belleville, I would like to welcome Kyle as our newest Deputy Fire Chief,” said Director of Emergency Services and Fire Chief Dan Smith.
“Kyle’s experience with the fire service and understanding of the needs here in our community make him an invaluable asset to the team. I look forward to what the future holds for Kyle and our department as he takes on this new role.”
