New provincial funding has been announced for a program designed to help youth with disabilities participate in sports.
During the opening ceremonies of the Ontario Boccia Championship, it was announced that the Ontario Cerebral Palsy Sports Association would recieve a Trillium Grow Grant of $244,700, to expand their Rolling Success program.
Rolling Success is a program that engages both students with disabilities and those without in para-sports, including boccia and frame running.
This new grant will fund the program being available in schools across the Quinte region, in order to make physical activity more welcoming to all students.
In a press release, Bay of Quinte MPP Tyler Allsopp said that “school-based para-sports offer a powerful opportunity to promote health and inclusion, while also fostering empathy, teamwork, and a stronger sense of belonging within school communities. This important OTF grant will help redefine how schools across the Quinte Region support the physical activity needs and aspirations of all students.”
The Ontario Trillium foundation has invested nearly $105 million into community projects over the last year.
