The longstanding heat warning has ended for the area, but in its place is a Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued by Environment Canada.
According to the weather agency, conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and torrential rain.
Wind gusts could reach up to 90 km/h, with torrential rainfall amounts exceeding 50 mm also possible.
Thunderstorms could begin late this morning and continue into this afternoon.
