A Belleville man has been charged with public mischief after he allegedly called 911 five times in one day for hospital transportation, only to return home immediately afterwards.
Belleville police responded to an ambulance assist at an apartment building in the city’s east end at around 9 p.m. on Wednesday.
Officers learned about the multiple calls for service in one day, plus learned that over the last five days the man had made 21 emergency calls for transportation to the hospital.
Police cautioned the man and left the residence.
Five minutes later, police say he called 911 again.
As a result, a 69-year-old Belleville resident was arrested and charged with public mischief. He was held for a bail hearing.
