A statutory public meeting was held regarding a new planned event venue along County Road 7 in Prince Edward County.
During Wednesday’s planning committee meeting, councillors heard from the developer about their plans for the property, located at 383 County Road 7.
The site is currently zoned as institutional, and is the former site of North Marysburgh Public School. The property developer is seeking a change to Tourist Commercial in order to allow for an event venue, culinary school, and 10 guest bedrooms. The development is proposed to be contained within the former school building, and no new buildings are being proposed at the site.
Members of the public were also given the chance to speak about the application, with surrounding residents raising concerns about noise/light pollution, unsustainable water use, increased traffic, and loss of habitat for at-risk species in the area as part of the natural core area.
No decisions were made on the application during the meeting, with the application set to return before members of council along with a staff report on the application at a later meeting.
