A vote to reconsider a motion regarding electric vehicle charging stations failed to pass at Belleville City Council’s meeting on Monday.
The motion would have called on city staff to prepare a plan to install a minimum of four electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in Belleville and have that plan be referred to the 2026 Capital Budget process.
Councillor Margaret Seu had introduced the original motion, which did not receive enough votes to pass, as well as the reconsideration motion.
Six votes were needed to pass the motion, with the final count falling one short.
Voting in favour were councillors Margaret Seu, Barbara Enright-Miller, Kelly Henderson, Sean Kelly, and Mayor Neil Ellis.
Opposition votes came from councillors Garnet Thompson, Kathryn Brown and Paul Carr.
