Belleville police and Quinte West OPP continue their focused patrols on Old Highway 2.
Since starting last Monday, they have issued 81 tickets as they look at seat belt usage, aggressive, distracted, and impaired driving.
- 46 provincial offence notices were issued for speeding
- 1 seatbelt fine
- 4 notices for equipment defects – all tint related
- 4 commercial motor vehicle fines were issued
- 17 notices were issued for documentation
- 8 cell phone charges
- 1 provincial offences notice was also issued for failing to move over for emergency vehicle
On Thursday, they did commercial vehicle inspections and laid a total of 23 charges.
- Overweight vehicles
- Expired annuals
- Emissions violations
- Pre-trip inspection violations
- Improper tires, brakes, and registrations
Officers will continue pouring over the area between the border with Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory and RCAF Road in Quinte West.
