Members of the Lennox and Addington OPP have laid charges on a boater after a passenger fell overboard early yesterday morning and did not resurface.
At approximately 7:45 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025, OPP received a call that an individual had fallen into the water at Weslemkoon Lake in the Township of Addington Highlands.
A coordinated response was launched involving units from the OPP’s L&A County and Bancroft detachments, Marine Unit, Aviation Services, Underwater Search and Recovery Unit, as well as the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre.
Later that day, at approximately 8:00 p.m., the body of a deceased 22-year-old male from Toronto was recovered.
As a result of the investigation, Dawson Lowes, a 21-year-old male also from Toronto, has been charged with:
- Operation causing death
- Dangerous operation causing death
- Operating while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The investigation is ongoing and the identity of the deceased is not being released at this time.
