The St. Leonard’s Emergency & Transitional housing program is getting provincial support as it gets set to open in the coming days.
On Thursday afternoon, Minister of Municipal Affairs & Housing Rob Flack visited the Quinte West site on Lester Road, announcing $1 million for the ten-bed transitional site.
Six beds are for emergency situations and the other four will be for longer-term transitions.
Flack was joined by MPP Tyler Allsopp, Hastings County Warden Bob Mullin, Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison, along with other dignitaries and board/staff members of St. Leonard’s.

Minister Flack says collaboration is key to getting projects completed.

“Supportive housing enables our neighbours to get back on their feet and turn the page to new and exciting chapters in their lives,” said Rob Flack, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing. “Working with our municipal partners, our government will continue to get more affordable and supportive housing built to protect our most vulnerable residents and ensure they have a roof over their heads.”

“I’m so proud our government is helping make this project a reality. We’ll keep fighting to get homes of all kinds built – including supportive and affordable housing – and make life more affordable for the people of Bay of Quinte and across Ontario.” Tyler Allsopp, Member of Provincial Parliament for Bay of Quinte
“On behalf of Hastings County Council and staff I am excited to celebrate this significant funding through the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing’s Homelessness Prevention Program. I would like to thank Minister Flack for bringing such positive news to Hastings County to support this important project that will provide vulnerable young people with the opportunity to have a place to live while accessing educational supports and resources that will lead to meaningful employment and permanent housing.” Bob Mullin, Warden of Hastings County
“In response to the rising issue of homelessness, we plan to expand services for youth aged 15-24. St. Leonard’s recognizes that lack of income and employment opportunities, along with limited education and work experience, hinders young people exiting care systems from securing permanent housing. To address this, we are implementing supportive programs through community partnerships. The best way to learn how to do this effectively is through action.” Kelly Nolan, CEO, St. Leonard’s Community Support, Prevention, and Residential Services
