Brighton’s Automated Speed Enforcement program officially goes into effect on Monday, July 14.
On that date, a “Camera in Use” sign will be installed to inform motorists that the camera is now active in the school zone along Elizabeth Street.
In April, signs were erected in the area warning of the upcoming enforcement.
The automated system will capture and record the rate of speed the motor vehicle is travelling and will automatically issue tickets to the registered plate holder of the vehicle regardless of who was driving.
Demerit points will not be applied.
The letter of citation will be mailed to the registered vehicle owner.
The Automated Speed Enforcement program aligns with the Municipality of Brighton’s strategic goal of enhancing public safety by creating safe and comfortable streets for everyone on or near Municipality of Brighton roadways.
