Belleville police have arrested a man in connection to Wednesday’s fatal hit-and-run accident on Highway 2.
On Thursday afternoon, Belleville police arrested 43-year-old Joseph Scott Nestler, of Belleville.
He was charged with failing to stop at an accident resulting in death after an investigation involving the Criminal Investigations Division and the Traffic Safety Unit.
The original accident took place on Wednesday, when a man was struck by a car on Old Highway 2.
First responders including police, firefighters, and EMS arrived on the scene just before 11 p.m. The man was taken to Belleville General Hospital and was pronounced dead by medical staff.
Nestler was released with a future court date.
