The Hastings Prince Edward District School Board is working on a full spectrum plan to help increase student success.
It is called the Student Achievement Plan and it focuses on three categories:
- Achievement of Learning Outcomes in Core Academic Skills
- Preparation of Students for Future Success
- Student Engagement and Well-Being

Tina Elliott is the Superintendent of Education for Curriculum Services.
At the Board of Trustees meeting on June 23, she was asked about the metrics and data used in the S.A.P
Audio Player“Where you will be able to see that trending data is in our pre, mid, and post information that we bring through. Most often that comes through our Student Learning, Well-Being, and Equity Committee because we’re bringing those reports regarding how our students are progressing in E.Q.A.O (Education Quality and Accountability Office) how are they progressing in terms of our mathematics achievement.”
Director of Education Katherine MacIver tells Quinte News the S.A.P is a good provincial mandate and measure.
Audio Player“When we talk about literacy and numeracy achievement, they’re using the grade 3,6, and 9, and grade 10 OSSLT (Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test) outcome.”
She adds they can focus on what is most critical within the board.
Audio Player“When we sit down an analyze the data in the S.A.P (Student Achievement Plan) and we listen to the feedback that our community provides, specifically on out Student Achievement Plan, we then make decisions about what is most important in our context of the eleven goals and where do we want to really focus our time and attention.”
