Belleville fire is on scene of a general alarm fire in the 300 block of Front Street.
Fire, paramedics and police responded to the upper floor at 306 Front just after 5 a.m. Friday.
Officials tell Quinte News one person was pulled from the building by firefighters and taken to hospital by paramedics.
Police evacuated adjoining buildings.
The fire is under control and firefighters are searching the building to confirm there are no other victims.
Fire prevention officers are on scene and the Fire Marshal’s office has been called to investigate.
An unconfirmed report to Quinte News indicates a battery in a room may have caused the fire.
Front Street remains closed to vehicular traffic at the corner of Victoria Street
The street is open to foot traffic and downtown businesses remain open as usual.
