A disagreement has broken out between the land developers for the Cold Creek Subdivision and the Warings Creek Improvement Association.
During Tuesday’s council meeting, a lawyer representing the improvement association, claimed the developers were not complying with a previous council directive to complete a cumulative impact study for the effects the development would have on the local environment.
In their report to council, they said that the developer had informed them that only the terms of reference for a study, and not the study itself, would be delivered before construction began, and that there would be no input by the improvement association on the terms.
This was pointed out to be in conflict with the direction given by municipal council in a previous meeting, where the developer was instructed to complete the cumulative impact study so its results could be discussed by stakeholders prior to the execution of a subdivision agreement, and that recommendations stemming from the study be incorporated into the final design.
After the presentation, council moved to direct staff to present an update to council on the terms of reference for the study, and address the concerns brought to council by this presentation at the upcoming July 22 meeting.
The motion passed without debate.
