Lennox and Addington County OPP charged two people with impaired driving-related charges over the weekend.
On Friday, June 20, just before 7 p.m., L&A County OPP members were advised of a motor vehicle collision involving a vehicle that struck a guardrail on Highway 401 west then failed to stop at the scene.
The vehicle was located at a nearby carpool lot and the driver was arrested.
Ryan Sproule, a 39-year-old from Odessa, was charged with:
Operation while impaired – alcohol
Operation while impaired – over 80 mgs of alcohol
Dangerous driving
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on July 8. His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded.
On Saturday, June 21, just after 1 p.m., L&A County OPP were called by a member of the public regarding a possible impaired driver on County Road 2 in Loyalist Township. Police stopped the vehicle and the driver was arrested.
A 17-year-old from Newburgh, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act was charged with:
Operation while impaired – alcohol
Operation while impaired – over 80 mgs of alcohol
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Youth Court of Justice in Greater Napanee at a later date. Their driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and their vehicle was impounded.
