Two outstanding programs, Quinte Adult Education (QAE) and School Within a College (SWAC), celebrated their Class of 2025 graduates on June 19, marking a day of achievement, resilience and bright futures.
At QAE in Belleville, 112 graduates were recognized for their commitment to completing their Ontario Secondary School Diploma. Of those, 27 attended the in-person ceremony, where they were celebrated for their hard work and dedication. As part of a self-paced, independent study model, QAE provides adult learners aged 18 and older with flexible access to secondary school credits from anywhere in Ontario. With continuous intake and personalized learning, QAE empowers students to reach their academic goals—no matter their starting point.
On the same day, the SWAC program celebrated 21 graduates—achieving a 100% success rate. Together, they earned a total of 106.5 credits, consisting of 70.5 secondary school credits and 36 dual credits, through an innovative college-delivered model.
“To the families, supporters and school staff who are here—thank you for your commitment to this awesome program. To the students—congratulations! Your hard work, perseverance and resilience have led to your success, with one hundred per cent of you graduating,” said Katherine MacIver, Director of Education.
Loyalist College President Mark Kirkpatrick acknowledged their success and strong network. “This is your community. Even when you’re done, you’re never alone,” said Kirkpatrick, adding, “Your hard work has led to your success. Congratulations.”
Since its launch in September 2023, the SWAC program has expanded opportunities for 17- to 20-year-olds nearing completion of their OSSD. It blends credit recovery, compulsory course completion, college credits and experiential learning with supports in mental health, student success and post-secondary transitions.
Both QAE and SWAC, while unique in structure, are united in the power of second chances, personalized learning and the belief that every learner deserves the opportunity to succeed.
